The Institute of Applied Sciences and Intelligent Systems “Eduardo Caianiello” (ISASI) of the National Research Council (CNR) has recently increased its scientific structure including a new unit (ISASI-Na) located in the biotechnological area of the CNR in Naples. Main scientific activities developed in the ISASI-Na laboratories are focused on micro/nano-photonic technologies and devices for bio-medicine, ICT, aerospace, energy and environment.

The Unit of Naples collaborates with several international research institutions, such as LETI, DIMES, UCLA, Boston University, Lawrence National Berkeley Labs, and with large national companies (Alenia Aeronautica, STMicroelectronics, Selex SI) as well as many innovative SME (Materias, Tresol, TME).

The research activities of the Unit are carried out by nineteen researchers with expertise on physics, chemistry, and  electronic engineering, covering the path from the understanding of basic phenomena to the design and realization of innovative devices. The research staff is supported by 6 technicians and 3 administration employees.
